Sisterhood for Industry Support

SIS is a forum for the empowerment and advancement of drinks-industry womxn in South Africa, and South Africans abroad.

 SIS

Purpose & Pillars

Our purpose is to increase gender representation and seniority through sisterly synergy and mutual upliftment.

We have a long view here, where we believe these goals can be achieved by building enduring relationships and cultivating community.

We take daily steps towards nurturing sisterhood by following our #TellYourSis ethos, where our three key pillars are:

  1. Sharing opportunities
  2. Offering advice
  3. Cheering each other on

In other words, development, mentorship and support.

Seminars & Scholarships

To inspire and educate,  we offer regular seminars, where leading industry womxn share their wisdom and experience with us. These seminars are open to the public, and we welcome interested individuals, regardless of their gender or industry.

We also offer scholarships to facilitate career advancement. These are for SIS members only.

Membership is free, and open to anyone working in the drinks industry, including bartenders, brand ambassadors, educators, drinks journalists and consultants.

We’re 47 members strong, with associates in the South African metropoles of Cape Town and Joburg, and including some currently living in Lagos, Dubai and Freiburg.

SIS is modest but thriving, as evidenced by our win of South Africa’s Best Upliftment Initiative at the 2023 Bar & Beverage Awards, in which we were shortlisted alongside two major programmes funded by Bacardi and Diageo.
